JANUARY 2021

The latest lockdown has been hard for all of us and finding things to help cope with it all is important. I’ve been enjoying getting the paints out, its certainly great to reconnect with something you’ve enjoyed in the past. So I’m thankful to have the headspace and time to have some fun making a mess and away from the Mac and photoshop.

The thought of getting a big canvas and pinning it on the wall and letting things happen would have put the fear of god in me a few years back, I love it and appreciate it now more than ever, total escapism.

I have plans to continue doing these bigger works and explore with texture and colour and expressive mark making it feels right ! So some good things have come from this latest lockdown. Heres to having a pint in the Local soon!

COMMON WEALTH GAMES TVC

So cool to have the opportunity of working on this one, our Poduction company CurtisMarrs solely produced, directed and made this for McCann central.

My role was to help develop the look and style frames for the commercial inspired by the branding guides and colour guidelines and the very lose script we had.

Chris directed the live shoot at various locations across the u.k while I was in studio thrashing out the style frames. Our team produced a perfect product I think that captures the diverse athletic talent and cultural vibrancy the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth promises. Keep a look out for various social media cutdowns in the near future.

The Struts - Strange Days album cover

During this weird summer of Covid lock down and uncertainty I had the pleasure of hooking up with the Struts to create their Lockdown’ album cover Strange Days. After a zoom call with Luke and a rock n roll selection of band photos, studio and candid supplied . Set about over a weekend to create loosely a pop art collage. Heres a few initial ideas I sent to the band, happy they chose the one they did. A nice combination of monatge and LA palm tree horizons.

The cover has a few featured references to their influences and rock n roll life style …. Freddies Tash’ , Guns and Roses, bar and grill sign, lines of coke all hinting at the LA riock scene past and present where the album was recorded.

The final product looked ok, but who ever put this together cropped freddies tash! DOH

A good listen though and even features Robbie Williams and Def Lappards Joe Elliot.
